The SANESA Equestrian Schools League came to a close for the 2019 year at the Nationals competition held at Misty Meadows on 24th – 28th September. A total of 245 Primary Schools were represented with 1,018 young riders competing in the biggest show of the year. Beaulieu Preparatory was once again well represented with a total of 12 riders competing in the Core League Nationals, 2 very young children in the Newcomers Challenge, 1 athlete in Vaulting (held in Cape Town) and 1 rider in the Stadium Eventing National Championships.
Our riders performed to an exceptionally high standard, particularly at the higher levels.
Outstanding achievements at Level 7 were achieved in Equitation, Show-Jumping, Prix Caprilli and Handy Hunter.
On a schools level, besides winning Top Gauteng Primary school at the Gauteng Finals, Beaulieu Preparatory finished third in the SA Nationals ranking with two of their riders in the Top 10 in South Africa.
The BPS Equestrian Captain, Sienna Blaauw, very proudly won the SA Top Rider Points or Victrix Ludorum on her versatile and talented pony, Kartouche, while her sister, Jenna Blaauw, came a very impressive fifth in SA on her pony, Forsight Truce.
Herewith our riders results (only the top third placed riders receive a rosette/result):
All Beaulieu Prep riders are to be commended for their professional behaviour and can be very proud of their achievements against South Africa’s best young riders.
The following children (including those prize winners above) proudly competed for their school and province and were awarded Gauteng Provincial School Colours:
- Georgia Ruiter
- Aoife White
- Owen Hartnady
- Jason Hartnady
- Eran Pot
- Kate Eales
- Remi Naude
- Zara Goeller (Vaulting)
- Reilly Meares (Newcomers)
This brings to a close another highly successful Equestrian year for Beaulieu Preparatory and one in which our children excelled on and off the competition ground. The school’s riding team has also ably assisted two young development riders with riding kit for the SANESA shows as well as supporting the Shumbashaba Hippotherapy programme with various donations and time.
